Their outstanding characteristics were strength of character, bravery, wisdom, faith in God, and tenacity of purpose. The heritage of the name of Sutton is in itself an honor and a title." Googling my surname is always a sure way to lift my mood (and boost my ego). We Suttons are such awesome people! (The Mosleys as well! My mom tells me we've also got Mosley blood somehow). Let's pretend we're bunny rabbitsposted by Jon14:42 | SAY SOMETHING | I am excited about moving to Valparaiso. Levels of anticipation have reached previously unknowable heights. I found out two days ago that my parents do not start moving their belongings to Crestview until the very end of March, at which point they will have about 3 weeks to finish moving. This is good news for me, because the move to Valparaiso had been delayed as well. Hopefully the duplex will be ready before the end of March, and I will only have to move once. There are two things I plan on doing once I move to Valparaiso. I won't say what they are, because if I don't get around to them I don't want to have made any promises. Besides, it could be like telling someone your birthday wish. Until I move, I will be living day-by-day, waking up in the early morning, showering, driving for an hour (or more if the traffic's especially bad), working, drinking coffee, and either meeting up with you guys for a drink or whatever or driving for an hour (or more if the traffic's especially bad) back home so I can eat dinner, go to sleep, and repeat. What time I have inbetween I spend reading. "Magician: Apprentice" is a very good book. I've reached chapter 6 now, and am convinced the decision to abandon Robert Jordan (at Luke's behest) for Raymond Feist was a good one. I don't always finish a book, and I don't always finish a book I WANT to finish before starting another one. I'm still in the middle of Dorothy Sayers' "Creed or Chaos". Future reads will be Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" and John Kennedy Toole's "Confederacy of Dunces". Any other recommendations are welcome. I did, by the way, end up getting those reservations at the Wyndham. Looks like we may be missing Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman's wedding by two weeks. I predict a duet of epic aussie proportions. I'm getting reservations tomorrow for the 17th and 18th nights of March. I plan on getting just one room with two beds, for now. Sigur Ros actually played this past Valentine's Day, but Wilco will be at the Ryman on the 17th, so we have that option (Ticketmaster says $30 is the price for a ticket). If you've expressed to me a desire to go on this trip, and you are serious about it, get your schedule in gear and let me know as soon as you can. This place, of course, will be the highlight of the trip for me:

My family Tivo's the show off BBC America. I'd not heard of it till a few weeks ago. Basically, the show is a collection of pieces of interviews with various animals on a variety of topics. The animals are voiced by average UK citizens. It's hilarious.Labels: humor, television 2.06.2006 | Fun-Size Book Reportsposted by Jon13:03 | SAY SOMETHING | The cold I've been entertaining these last several days has left me with lots of time to read. This past weekend I finished Stephen King's new novel, "Cell", Chaim Potok's "The Chosen", and the first 8 chapters of Robert Jordan's "Eye of the World". "Cell" felt too much like watching a Stephen King movie three times the normal length. It has a fun premise (where anyone who begins talking on a cellphone instantly turns homicidal/crazy) and I won't be suprised if they actually MAKE it into a movie, but I bet it'll look and feel like your average zombie story, because the book sure did. "The Chosen" was awesome. Great story of the friendship between two American Jewish boys growing up during the aftermath of World War II. Tons of stuff about Jewish culture and history I did not know. Too early to tell with "Eye of the World" - I need to read further. It started out a little hokey, but it's a smooth read and pretty entertaining so far. Labels: literature I turned 50 last weekposted by Jon07:58 | SAY SOMETHING | Actually, I turned 67. That's what happens when you merge an account you've had since 1998 with the new one you've got right now. All that positive feedback adds up, baby!
