I ordered a scanner (this one) on Tuesday (day before yesterday) and it was at home waiting for me YESTERDAY. I paid for the regular old cheap 6 to 8 business day delivery, and I got it the very next day. I am quite happy about that.

Now that I have a scanner, I can get my pictures all online. I've already started, and you can get to them by clicking here. There are a ton more to come.

I do not know how to begin to express the joy that this brings me, especially with Grad School looming. Getting my sources cited properly has been the most confusing and time-consuming part of case-analysis for me. For any of you students out there, this should be very useful!

I pause my movie so I can go put my plate in the sink. I go back to my room and hop online to check my e-mail. Then I catch up on a couple of blogs. THEN I accidentally click on the link to my old blog when trying to get to this one. I start reading old comments and lo and behold, 40 minutes goes by. Evenings are short enough already as it is because of DST without my needing to spend 40 minutes online. Hey, at least tomorrow is my EDO/SDO/RDO (in reverse-chronological order). I can stay up late.

Paris, je t'aime

Elias McConnell is in a new movie called "Paris, je t'aime", to be released sometime around May. Natalie Portman, Elijah Wood, Steve Buscemi, and Willem Dafoe (and I heard Orlando Bloom, but he's not mentioned on the IMDB site) are costarring. It's French (obviously), and it lists Gus Van Sant as one of the directors (the guy who directed "Good Will Hunting" and Elias' first film "Elephant"), as well as Ethan and Joel Coen, and Wes Craven. I have no idea what to expect here, but I'm crossing my fingers that it'll be better than "Elephant".

Ugh.... $750 in car repair. Faulty break switch and leaky vacuum parts and tire rotation/balance/alignment. I'm glad I'm getting it taken care of, though. Once I replace a brake light, turn signal light, and front bumper cover I'll be golden. Or at least own a car that's in better shape.

Sufjan has a new album coming in July. The titles of his songs have always been on the unusual/unusually long side, and these are no exception. There's even a song called "The Palm Sunday Tornado Hits Crystal Lake," which is sort of timely, considering there've been a ton of tornados lately and yesterday was Palm Sunday. The tracklist and more information can be found here.

I wish Rotten Tomatoes could take my Netflix ratings and match me up with critics I would agree with most of the time. I like reading reviews, but I would much rather read reviews from people whose opinions I trusted. I like Michael Medved, but I don't think he's written much lately. Any of you have a favorite film critic?

That's at least a *little* better than DAN RATHER, don't you think? Um, probably not. In case (like me) you're not terribly familiar with Couric's previous talking-head experience, this collection of soundbytes can help....

It's a mad world

It's been a crazy last couple of months, for me and also for a lot of my friends. You can always expect some piece of drama to happen every once in a while, but when so much happens at once it starts feeling like a Northwest Florida hurricane season. My life is finally starting to plateau, but I still feel an overwhelming sense of helplessness, and occassionally I feel tempted to give in and let consequences take their course. That is not to be, though. I've got too much to do and too many things to take care of.

One such thing is the Trinity Kite Day! I won't be building any kites, but I will be there, and I hope you all will be as well. I've got John signed up to help, but I could use some judges, so let me know if you are available. These are usually a lot of fun (they've been doing them for about 12 years now?), and Henderson Beach is beautiful this time of year.
